This collection covers the increasing tensions between African-American and white communities in America during the civil rights movement in 1960s America. Particular focus is placed on the civil rights movement around 1968 and the threat and reality of rioting in the face of the death of Martin Luther King Jr. Some clips cover the approach and attitude taken by African-American civil rights activists during this period while others question the way that government policy resulted in inequality and poverty in the black community. The collection includes interviews with civil rights activist Al Cook, entertainer and rights activist Paul Robeson, African-American police officer Chief-Inspector Frederick Waithe, and activist and comedian Dick Gregory.
