ABC / Education Services Australian Pilot
About this pilot
This pilot project is a collaboration between ABC and Education Services Australia that is exploring sourcing content from the ABC Archives for use by Australian teachers and students. We have created two collections of video clips for the pilot one focusing on post-war Indonesia and the other focusing on key environmental issues. Some of these video clips are from ABC archival material while others are more contemporary. All of them are selected for their relevance to the emerging Australian curriculum. The clips have been identified by year level and learning area and are supported by notes written by curriculum experts. All the content on the site is licensed for non-commercial educational purposes allowing teachers and students to use the material in a range of different ways in the classroom.
Please feel free to watch and download these clips for use in teaching and learning contexts. We hope to expand the project out more widely in the future and would love any feedback you could provide on this pilot project
Collections
Environmental issues
This collection comprises extracts from ABC news, current affairs and science programs dealing with topical scientific and technological issues confronting the environment. It features the work of Australian scientists in investigating and tackling some of the country's significant environmental issues - climate change, water availability and quality, biodiversity and sustainability. There are also clips illustrating how scientists in other parts of the world are dealing with similar problems.
Post-war Indonesia
This collection, comprising extracts from ABC news and current affairs reports, focuses on the history of Indonesia since 1942. It covers the rise of nationalism during the Second World War, the struggle for independence, the Sukarno years to 1967, the Suharto years to 1998 and most of the later presidents. Some of the footage shows visits and talks between Indonesian and Australian leaders.
